ORVC members and their families, vendors, and students/residents enjoyed socializing and perusing recent research work by students/residents representing the 7 medical physics programs in our Chapter region.

Saturday, April 12th: Educational Symposium
OHINKY Competition
There were 12 selected presenters out of 21 submissions for our annual student/resident/junior scientific presentation competition. This year, we created a trophy – the OHINKY Trophy that will be passed along each year to the school represented by the winning presentation. Our judges were:
- Chris Allgower, Ph.D. (IU Health Proton Therapy Center)
- Indra Das, Ph.D., FAAPM (Indiana University School of Medicine)
- Michael Gossman, M.S., FAAPM (Tri-State Regional Cancer Center)
- E. Ishmael Parsai, Ph.D., FAAPM (University of Toledo Medical Center)
All participants, including poster presenters, received a prize of $100 for their contribution to the meeting with the first, second and tied-for second winners getting $300 and $175 respectively. The presentations were given by (click on presenter name to access PDF version of presentation):

Dr. Michael Knopp, Professor of Radiology, Chair, Novartis Image Research, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center was the James G. Kereiakis Honorary Keynote Speaker. Dr. Knopp spoke about the collaboration of diagnostic and oncology scientists and the resultant Imaging and Radiation Oncology Core Group, part of the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Trial Program. Dr. Knopp is co-chair of this important group. |

Dr. Howard Elson then presented an introduction to the process of creating a Doctorate of Medical Physics program at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Elson is a member of the AAPM Working Group on a Professional Doctorate Degree. |
